Jake Class of 2008!

Jake got in a little late with his senior pictures but we were able to get them done and in before the yearbook deadline. We shot at multiple locations; one being his friend's farm outside of town. On the way back from the farm I noticed a really cool looking old car parked off of someone's driveway. Being the intrepid artist I pulled in and asked the owner if he minded if we took pictures on and near his rusted out classic. After looking at me like I'd lost my mind he said, "I don't care." Anyway, those shots are some of my favorite out of the whole day! Congratulations, Jake and the Class of 2008!

Dawson & Jessica are Engaged!

I've known Jessica since we were freshmen in high school. She met Dawson on the internet--imagine that, there are non-creeps out there! They had a whirlwind romance of about 2 months and now the wedding is set for April! Congratulations you guys! May blessings overwhelm you!

I'm having issues with my computer and it's not letting me upload their pictures so I'll try later!

Chelsea Rae Senior '09

Chelsea is one of those girls that you remember from high school as being probably one of the most beautiful people you will ever see close up. But unlike most of the girls like that that we remember, Chelsea is sweet and humble. She was so much fun and really a good sport! It was raining for most of the shoot so we did some inside a couple of shops in downtown Salem. One of the shops was called Le Shoe Boutique. Such amazing shoes in there, I'll have to go back and actually buy something. Despite the rain and cold (literally we were getting wet out there) and a few mishaps that day (she dropped a weight on her face during weight class and got a huge fat lip, and had a bad allergic reaction to an eyebrow waxing...talk about a bad day), it was such a fun shoot. Thanks, Chelsea!

Chantelle and her Sweetie

These are some pictures I took of Chantelle and her husband, Fred, at Monica and David's wedding. Congratulations to Chantelle...she has recently lost almost 100 lbs.! These are her first pictures with her sweetie since her body transformation.

Chantelle, please email me from my website with the sizes and description and number of enlargements you want of these. Thanks!

P.S. see http://www.mercyscreation.com/ for enlargement information. You can click on the images to see them bigger. Please don't copy them.

Wedding #1 of my Marathon-David & Monica

Monica and David were married at Miller Bros. Farm on Sept. 6th, 2008 outside of Macleay, OR. There were forests, meadows, creeks and bridges on the property...a photographer's dream location. Monica and David were originally scheduled for Sept. 13th but due to a mishap with the location had to move their date up and so were included in my Saturday wedding marathon. They were so gracious and loved my work so much that they decided to have me cover the portraits and the getting ready portion of the wedding and have the videographer cover the ceremony and reception (due to the time crunch because of the double booking). I was VERY sad that I wasn't able to offer coverage for the rest of the day also, but I'm glad everything worked out. It was such an honor to be able to capture at least part of their day of union. I also was able to do Monica and David's engagement session and now I feel more like they are my friends than my clients. Thank you, Monica & David!

P.S. click on the pictures to make them bigger. Please don't copy.

Wedding #2 of my Marathon-Denise & Tim

Last Saturday Sept. 6th I did 2 weddings on the same day. One in the morning and one in the aftertnoon. So...much...fun! And so much work. Tim and Denise got married at Green Villa garden in Independence, OR. It was a beautiful location and turned out to be a wonderful, sunny day! They were so much fun, laughing and so much in love. Fortunately Denise is one of very few people who still looks pretty in the midst of a laugh. Here's a sneak peek of their wedding day!

Lily...my Muse!

I had a day of inspiration yesterday and set up a mini studio in my kitchen with a dark bed sheet and just the natural light from my bathroom window, kitchen windows and sky tube. I was so pleased with several captures and so I decided to try my hand at designing my first collage from scratch (I've done them before but have always used someone else's template). I finally decided on the yellow to print and put up in our living room, but I really liked the green one too...so, here ya go. Enjoy!

Jeff & Kathy's Wedding

My most recent wedding shoot was for Jeff and Kathy. They were so much fun, constantly cracking jokes and laughing the whole time. They are such a sweet couple. Kathy opts for the pet name "Handsome" for her husband instead of the usual, babe, honey or sweetheart. They had to postpone their wedding twice for various reasons but "because they knew they were meant to be together" (as quoted from the best man's speech) they pushed through and were finally able to say their 'I do's'. It's always refreshing to see a couple that have actually been through some "stuff" and are so committed and doting on each other!
I was a little apprehensive when they informed me of the location. I've shot there before and it's very industrial with difficult lighting, which isn't impossible but it just makes my job a little more difficult. Kathy, however, is a talented designer and loves all things sparkly and shiney (my kind of girl!) and was able to transform the sanctuary and reception areas into a beautiful site!

Jeff and Kathy were married in Salem, OR

What's in a name?

Me, our daughter, Lily, and my husband Jeremy (below)

Okay, here goes...I'm finally doing "the blog thing". I'm pretty new so please forgive me if I break some unwritten blogger rules.

I'm owner/photographer of Mercy's Creation Photography. I'm based in Salem, Oregon but I regularly travel to Washington, California, Idaho and am very busy here in the Willamette Valley. Anyone else out there a "Valley-onian". I am. Born and raised in the valley. I'm even a 4th generation Oregonian (I know 5th is more impressive, but really I take what I can get).

I believe that I have a unique vision when it comes to my outlook on life and my art. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God (as in the Merciful Father, Trinity, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Eliohim, etc...) is the creator of the universe, and we are made in His image. Which is beautiful and perfect (I'm not trying to start a debate here, only trying to explain how I see things). That being said...we, as humans, don't get the horrible life that we deserve because of God's grace and His MERCY. God is the essence of MERCY and we are the crowning glory of His CREATION. I see beauty in everyone. It's my goal as a photographer to capture how God sees us. Thus, my name, Mercy's Creation Photography.
